J 27 Sail Information & Prices

We offer a variety of mainsails, genoas and blade jibs to accommodate the different needs of our customers.

¨ SPIDER DACRON MAINSAIL…..$1,806

Our firm finish Dacron Spider main is a great sail for the J-27. It is flat down low, full up high, and very adjustable with backstay and outhaul. The sail is a Spider-cut tri-radial oriented sail. The Spider panel layout orients the threadline of the fabric along the primary loads of the sail. As the sail ages, or when it is used in high winds, bias stretch is reduced, and the sail holds its design sail shape longer. This sail uses two cloth weights (6.4 and 5.8 oz) creating a square weave fabric with a crisp racing finish. It offers excellent performance and durability at an economical price. This is an excellent racing sail providing exceptional performance and durability. A reef row is not usually needed on the J 27 mainsail but we offer it as an option.

reef row…$121

¨ SPIDER KEVLAR MAINSAIL…..$2,498

Our premier Kevlar mainsail uses two styles of Dimension’s Edge Kevlar (e 09/e 06). The Edge sail offers the lowest stretch, highest strength Kevlar sail. A Kevlar sail gets its strength from the Kevlar content in the sail. This is measured in deniers per inch (DPI). This sail construction has far greater strength than either UK's Tape Drive or North's 3DL processes, as the sail has a much higher DPI. The sail is as light or lighter than the other sail styles. A reef row is not usually needed on the J 27 mainsail but we offer it as an option.
Options:
reef row…$163

¨ SPIDER SPORT KEVLAR MAINSAIL…..$2,003

Our Sport Kevlar mainsail is an economy version of our Edge Kevlar mainsail. It uses a less expensive Kevlar known as Sport style (SP10/SP06). Although all Kevlar, this sail uses less Kevlar, Vectran and Technora than our premiere Kevlar mainsail. A reef row is not usually needed on the J 27 mainsail but we offer it as an option.
Options:
reef row…$149

¨ CUBEN FIBER RACE SAIL MAINSAIL…..$3,358

Our Race Sail is a grand prix sail. It is built of Cuben Fiber, a fabric developed during the 1993 America's Cup campaign by the America3 syndicate and Shore Sail’s Bill Shore. The fabric is now available commercially and Shore Sails is the largest US supplier. The finished sail is about half the weight of the lightest Kevlar sail, and more than twice as strong. The actual fabric weight in these sails is about 2 oz. The fabric has the appearance of waxed paper. It is more durable than Kevlar. This sail offers incredible durability and is an excellent value. It will out last any Kevlar sail. The low stretch and low weight of this fabric is truly amazing. A reef row is not usually needed on the J 27 mainsail but we offer it as an option.
Options:
reef row…$203

Mainsails include: shelf foot, sail numbers, draft stripes, class insignia, vision window, cunningham, leechline, foam /epoxy tapered battens with the top two battens full length and the bottom two long for increased durability, floating tack and a tube bag.

¨ SPIDER EDGE PREMIUM KEVLAR BLADE JIB…..$1,442

¨ SPIDER SPORT ECONOMY KEVLAR BLADE JIB…..$1,243
This economy version of the Edge Premium Kevlar accommodates the loading requirements of a small jib. This sail is SP15/SP10.

¨ SPIDER CUBEN FIBER RACE SAIL BLADE JIB…..$1,927

Spider Blade Jibs include: four battens with the top batten full length and the lower three 30" long, draft stripes, vision and telltale window.

¨ SPIDER SPINNAKER…..$1,467

The AP Spider Spinnaker uses our stepped-corner reinforcement to keep the sail light weight in the corners for speed in the lightest of air, while maintaining strength in higher winds. This sail is an excellent all-purpose spinnaker where you are only allowed to use one sail. It is a .75 Nylon sail with a triradial construction.

All J 27 sails, except our Spider Dacron Mainsail are constructed using our Ultra-Bond seaming process. This is a glued sail construction that provides seams that are stronger than traditional stitched seams.
